Welcome to East of England Learning Improvement Network

To support improvement work across the NHS we have established learning and improvement networks. These networks, combined with improvement guides and analytics, will further support delivery of the best and most effective care possible for patients.

Welcome to the NHS Learning and Improvement Networks

We’re delighted to welcome you to the East of England NHS Learning and Improvement Network, a collaborative space where clinical and operational colleagues from across the region come together to share, learn, and grow their understanding of improvement methodologies and good practice. The networks are built on the principle that connecting providers and ICBs across the region and learning together, from each other, creates greater opportunities to improve services for patients at a provider, place, system and regional level.

Adam Cayley, Regional Chief Operating Officer

What are the aims of the Learning Improvement Network?

Adoption of best practice, reducing unwarranted variation and improving patient flow  using an improvement approach in the following areas:

  • urgent and emergency care
  • outpatient services
  • Mental health

The metrics for each LIN relate to these aims

  • Elective: Increase percentage of patients waiting <18 weeks for their first appointment
  • UEC: Reduce the proportion of beds occupied by long stay patients (7+ days)
  • Mental Health: Reduce the average length of stay for adult mental health inpatients
